Final Fantasy XIV: An Eorzean Adventure
It is the Year Five of the Seventh Umbral Era. Only a few years have passed since the Calamity, the great sundering which shattered the lands of Eorzea, and yet crisis looms on the horizon already. The Garlean Empire stands ready to conquer the city-states of Eorzea with its magitek-powered armies. The beast tribes of the lands work tirelessly to summon their Primal gods, bent on nothing less than the destruction of all who oppose them. The thousand-year Dragonsong War continues with no sign of stopping.
The land of Eorzea was once saved – narrowly – by adventurers, and it seems that it has need of them again. All those who seek the legacy of the Warriors of Light, whether for justice, glory, or the dreams of treasure and gil – sally forth, and prepare for an Eorzean Adventure!
Heya folks! Welcome to the hub for my new campaign, set in the Final Fantasy XIV world of Eorzea. We're using Soren's Homebrew FFXIV Guidebook as a base, which is used in conjunction with the regular 5E ruleset. You can find it here, for reference.
To get started, we'll first need to pick a starting location; we'll be picking from one of the following three major city-states in the region of Eorzea.
Limsa Lominsa: Eorzea's maritime power; a sea-side nation-state founded by pirates and ruled today by Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn (herself an ex-pirate) and her Grand Company (a sort of government that handles economic, technological and military affairs), the Maelstrom. Its economy is driven by shipbuilding, fishing, and blacksmithing, but the majority of wealth comes from the lucrative shipping industry. Limsa Lominsa is a bustling port and pirate hideout, and openly supports pirate raids on the Garlean Empire's ships.
Warriors, Rogues, Arcanists, and Machinists* will find their guilds based here.
Gridania: A nation-state tucked away in the forests of the Black Shroud, Gridania exists due to pacts made with the Elementals who control the forest. It is ruled by Elder Kan-E-Senna and her fellow Padjal – those blessed by the Elementals with immortality, with the help of its Grand Company, the The Order of the Twin Adder. The Gridanian emphasis on natural harmony has led to its preeminence among Eorzea's city-states in trades such as forestry, agriculture, carpentry, and leatherworking.
Dragoons, Bards*, and White Mages will find their guilds based here.
Ul'dah: Sitting amid the deserts of Thanalan, Ul'Dah is without question the centre of commerce in Eorzea. The city-state has been ruled since its founding by Sultans; currently the city's ruler is Nanamo Ul Namo, Seventeeth Sultana of Ul'Dah, backed by its Grand Company, the Immortal Flames. However, many would argue the true power in Ul'Dah is the Syndicate: an informal term for the six richest merchants of Ul'Dah. Ul'dahic culture is known for its affluence, and the nation's wealth largely comes from its abundant mineral resources and prestigious cloth and jewelcrafting.
Paladins, Monks, and Black Mages will find their guilds based here.
* – An asterisk denotes that the guild itself isn't actually based here, but a replacement of some sort exists in its place. Astrologians and Dark Knights are not listed here – please see their details in the character creation page, which is listed on the Wiki in the sidebar.
Once we've done that, you can move on to making your characters! There's no rush since this campaign won't be starting until our current one, Princes of Evil, has finished – so take your time, feel free to flesh your character out real good. This campaign is going to be a little more focused than my previous ones; I won't be making you buy individual arrows or count calories, but expect the economy to be a little more detailed and less forgiving.
The poll's on the facebook page; if you'd like more information about each city-state, feel free to ask or check wiki pages either here once they're up, or the actual Final Fantasy wiki (beware of spoilers!)
